Privacy Policy

GeoBooks is a daily book geography game at geobooks.app. The operator of GeoBooks is responsible for the account and gameplay data described here. This policy explains the information handled when you visit the site, play a round, or connect an account. For privacy questions or requests, contact info@geobooks.app.

Information we use

• Account: Supabase Auth creates an anonymous user identifier when you start using the game. If you connect Google, Apple, or email, Supabase also processes the identity and email address supplied through that sign-in method. GeoBooks does not receive your Google or Apple password.
• Gameplay: We save the date of each round, your map guesses (coordinates), points, total score, completion time, and the reader name shown on the daily leaderboard. If you do not choose a name, the game assigns a short default name. Your email address is not shown on the leaderboard.
• Browser storage: Supabase stores your sign-in session in your browser so you can continue playing. A display name you save in My stats is stored with your account. Clearing browser data can remove an anonymous session that has not been linked to a sign-in method.
• Technical data: The website, authentication provider, map services, and advertising provider may process information such as IP address, browser and device details, and request logs when you use their services.

Why we use it

We use account and gameplay information to run the game, save scores, prevent duplicate guesses, show your statistics, and display the daily leaderboard. Session storage is needed to keep you signed in. Technical logs may be used to operate and protect the service. Advertising technologies are described separately below.

For account and gameplay features you request, we process data to provide the service. We may also process limited technical data for our legitimate interests in security and reliable operation. Advertising cookies and identifiers may require your consent under applicable law.

Services that receive data

• Supabase provides authentication, database storage, and game server functions. Supabase Privacy Policy.

• OpenFreeMap and Esri provide map tiles requested by your browser while the map is displayed. OpenFreeMap · Esri Privacy Statement.
• Google AdSense is loaded on the website and may use cookies or similar technologies for ad delivery and measurement. Google and other advertising vendors may use these technologies to show ads based on visits to this or other websites. Learn how Google uses information from partner sites.

Cookies and advertising choices

Advertising on GeoBooks is managed by Jozef Grec. For advertising questions, contact info@geobooks.app.

Authentication and local storage keep your game session available. Advertising providers may set or read cookies and other identifiers. You can manage personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings and control cookies in your browser. Your browser settings do not necessarily remove information already stored by an advertising provider.

How long information remains

Game and account records do not currently have an automatic deletion date. We keep them while the service operates unless we delete the account or data following a valid request. Clearing browser data removes local storage but does not by itself delete records held by Supabase. Service providers may keep technical logs under their own retention schedules.

Your choices and rights

You can play anonymously, or connect an account to retain access across browser sessions. You can delete the current account and its game records through Delete account in the main menu. You may also ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing info@geobooks.app. Where applicable, you may also object to processing, request restriction or portability, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data protection authority. We may need to verify your identity before acting on an account request.

Changes

We may update this policy when the game or its providers change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
